Another year older as a whole

Happy day after Canada Day! Man, it was a hot one!

Where I live, it gets pretty ridiculously busy here on long weekends... considering this is one of the top tourist destinations.  Cars inching their way all the way up the roads to the beaches are a well known problem for us locals.  I'm pretty sure all of us residents just stay at home when long weekends roll around.  This time though, D and I decided to go out and see what was happening around town, without getting too close to all the action/traffic.

There are five beaches that are the "main" beaches in my town. They are all in a row from 1 to 5.  Beach 5 is the one we live closest to... and beaches 1 and 2 are all the way on the other side of town. Those two are the hotspots that everybody goes to.  There are shops and a little boardwalk fun at beaches 1 and 2.  Personally, I enjoy the quietness of the smaller, less cramped beaches, so we stuck with our good old beach 5 today.  Surprisingly enough though, it was pretty busy, but not even a quarter of what the other beaches would have looked like!

beach patrol! vroom vroom!

To get to this beach, we took some trails that wind through the forests.  Of course this called for some impromptu photo sessions!

D trying to make his hair blow in the breeze. he's kind of obsessed with how long his hair is now

Later on, we played some badminton and I somehow broke my butt.  Is that possible? Walking with a bit of a limp now, and blistered feet from wearing the completely wrong shoes to our little walk to the beach.  Gosh I sound so attractive.  Did you enter my giveaway yet with Mystic Forest Dwellers?

How did you spend your Canada Day, or how will you spend your July 4th?!
