Prepping my Fall wardrobe...

I've kind of gone a little nuts lately stocking up on Fall clothing and accessories!  Since my last post, I decided to get happy about accessories and jewelry, so I added a few new pieces to my very limited collection!

Here's a sampling of some of the things I purchased!  Most of it came from Forever 21's online store. I love their online store so much better than the retail stores. They constantly add new stuff, and the selection is way better.  Things sell out pretty quickly though so if you see something you like, you have to grab it!

The leopard print lightweight blazer was too cute to pass up.  The fedora is something I've been wanting for a while, but had never found one that I really really liked, until now!  Feather hair accessories are also something I've been eyeballing... but usually the price tags are a little on the high side. Can you believe these two were only about $6 each!? One is a headband, the other a dangle thing.

The black skirt is from Urban Outfitters. I also ordered some over the knee striped socks from there.

Turquoise accessories and matching minty blue/green nailpolish!  A cute striped sweater and an orange dotted blouse :)

I had to throw in a few basics too. I bought a couple of these long tanks. They finally started making "tunic" length ones, so I snatched up about 5 of them in different colours. Finally ones that fit tall people!  Lastly, some leggings, and an essential plain knit skirt.

I'm loving all the new things this season!  How do you think I did with my wardrobe overhaul? What is something that is absolutely necessary for you to have in your closet?

Finding a Style

I have to admit, I feel lost lately when it comes to dressing myself.  I think that this working at home business has officially crushed my personal style.

This Fall, I'm looking to revamp my "look". Maybe not revamp it, but rather work with it and actually give myself a bit of a "pick me up".  What a perfect time to do it as the season changes.

My issues usually lie in accessorizing.  I have absolutely no talent in this area.  If anyone is a pro at this, PLEASE help me out!!  The only jewelry I wear on a daily basis are my engagement rings (yes, ringS. I actually found one I wear for my wedding ring but couldn't wait to wear it so now it just pairs with my engagement ring).  I've always had this weird thought that jewelry just doesn't suit me and makes me feel too fancy. The only real accessory I am comfortable with is a good old hair accessory.

So where do I start? I've started collecting some fashion inspirations, such as these:

I chose these looks because they are simple enough and still work with my casual lifestyle. I have no interest in wearing pretty dresses and things every day, and to think about doing that is just so unrealistic for me. I am a person of comfort, and I plan to stay that way while finding my place in this crazy world of fashion!

So my question to you is... Do you have a personal style? How did you find your personal style and make it work for YOU? Also, if anyone has any accessorizing tips, do share!

Fall!!!

The crunchy leaves are a'comin' everyone!  I love autumn strolls through our forest.  The sun shining, the squirrels making funny noises at each other... the wind!  It's so nice to have a cool breeze after a hot summer.

It was also nice to find out yesterday that our property actually goes back farther than we had thought.  This means that we actually own a piece of the forest. How cool is that?!  My very own trees!  The Town is coming by this week to plant a few more. When we moved here, they had removed a bunch so they could get into the trails and build a bridge... which apparently I may also technically own!  So they'll be filling the void back in which will be a relief because I'm not sure I can handle another year of the community using our lawn as a right of way to the trails.

It's so nice out today. It's warm, and sunny. Perfect baggy tee and boots weather...

The boots are from Blowfish and I pretty much live in them. They called Hamura and are the comfiest things because they are lined with a faux shearling... definite must have if you live up here. There's nothing I hate worse than cold toes!

This Shine necklace (worn as a bracelet here) is pretty special. You can get them over at Ashley's website The Shine Project and $1 of each sale goes towards The Shine Project Fund. There are tons of different styles and options so be sure to check these babies out for yourself!

Hello friend, it's been so long...

Well lookie who snuck up on us... it's September!  It made quite an entrance this morning here.  A thunderstorm that was so close it shook the house.  Do you ever do that counting trick when there's a thunderstorm to see how close it is to you?  After lightning strikes, you start counting until you hear thunder. The number you land on tells you how many miles away the lightning is. Thunder travels 1 mile in 5 seconds, so if you count to 10, the lightning is 2 miles away. I do this all the time. This morning I only counted 1 second... meaning the lighting was only 0.2 miles away! Eek! I lost internet/cable/phone for an hour or so.  Anyways...

I can't believe that the summer is officially over now.  I will miss it. I will miss the hot weather and being able to lay around in the sun.

Fall does offer some great alternatives though.  Besides the cozy clothes, I'm looking forward to watching our forest go from lush and overgrown, to crispy and full of lovely colours.

Backyard walks are the best in the Fall. The river becomes fully visible, and best of all, there are no mosquitoes!

I am hoping winter holds off for a little while longer though.  If winter here never happened, I would be a happy girl.  The snowfall we get is insane, being that we are right by the Georgian Bay. Last year yielded a good 6 feet in our front yard.  It also started snowing in October. OCTOBER!  That is just ridiculous, Mother Nature. Please hold off for us some more, ok? :)

I also have some brand new sponsors up this month! Check them out in my sidebar... they are all awesome so be sure to show them some love!!!

What are you looking forward to most about Fall?
