I see potential!

I was finally able to convince Dustin to go back to the sketchy old yard sale with me today and holy smokes I am glad we went!  This time, we weren't as confused and freaked out as we were before, so we actually had a chance to go through everything, and dig through all of those old motel rooms.

My haul consisted of:

• An old wooden chest.  Needs some new fabric and a bit of paint and I really think it could be fabulous!
• Some brand new thread/string for crafting
• Some thrifted vintage dresses which I will clean and use for fabric
• An old vintage mini suitcase (always wanted one!)
• A vintage floral lamp. This thing is so tall, and needs to be re-wired but I just had to have it! Grabbed a nice shade for it too!
• A rustic looking half-moon shaped wooden hall table. This needs the most love out of everything.
• And a whole bunch of my favourite things ever... picture frames!!!

The best part.... everything was free!  I wish my car could have fit more stuff inside, because there were some things I sadly had to leave behind.  I can't wait to get to it and paint up some frames, beautify the furniture, and put it to good use!

I just survived what was definitely the strangest, most sketchy place I have ever been to... and I kind of want to go back.

On a drive out of town today, we passed this dilapidated old thrift shop with "Closed for Business" spray painted across the front of it.  As we traveled past it a bit, we noticed a whole bunch of furniture, items, and random things strewn about the back of the property.  Naturally, we were interested because we are both secretly aspiring Canadian Pickers.  We pulled in and saw a huge "Yard Sale" sign spray painted on the boarded up shop too, so figured there was something going on. 

Well friends, we entered what was the most bizarre "yard sale" I've ever seen.  There was absolutely no one around. The whole place was abandoned. As if they just had a big sale, and then just left it all there for anyone to pick through. What seemed like an old old old broken down motel had all of its doors open, filled with random findings and free for us to walk into.

I can't even describe the creepy feeling I felt walking through this place.  Dustin kept telling me it was like something straight out of a horror movie and scaring me to think that someone was going to pop out and murder us at any moment. 

Creepy right!?!  Wow...

On the way back to the car, I just happened to find this pretty cool vintage Brownie camera though.

We got out of there pretty quickly... but now that I have a better visual of some of the stuff that was there thanks to the photos I took, I kinda want to go back and grab some things!!!

Dustin and I went to check out what was available at the garden center earlier. We found an awesome apple tree that grows four different kinds of apples... yes FOUR! I had never heard of this before, and didn't even know it was possible haha. We were set to bring it home but changed our minds as we were leaving. I'm kinda wishing we picked it up now... oh well!

After that, we visited this cute little consignment shop that is located in a super old log house that must be about 100 years old. It's the coolest location and when you walk inside you can just feel how old it is! Exposed wood beams, narrow staircase, a cricketty old wood floor. I love it!

Does anyone else remember those crazy little fluffy haired clowns?!  That totally brought back some memories for me... I used to collect those when I was little!  

We picked up a few other fun things, like a badminton net and "outdoor sport set" (lol) for our company next weekend. It is Canada Day after all you know ;)  It's like our 4th of July.

On the way home I spotted a license plate that made me chuckle...

Perfect for a convertible!!! (although, I'm pretty sure the X with the S at the end makes it read as "rainsuck's" haha, but whatever floats your boat...).

Can I also just tell you how excited I am that Canada Post has been forced back to work!! WOOWOO!!! That means mail should be resuming tomorrow (edit: Tuesday), which means I can start shipping orders again and we can finally hear back about Dustin's immigration status!  SO EXCITED!!!
